Writing

27/5/2014

Writing is one of the four language skills. It is a productive skill which means it involves producing language rather than receiving it. We can say that writing involves communicating a message by making signs on a page. When we write we need something to communicate  ,and usually someone to communicate it to.There are written text types which involve different kinds of writing, as each text type has different characteristics. There are also different degrees of formality.

The learners should go through stages in writing skill. They should move from planning their work to drafting it and then on to editing. This approach allows them to focus on different aspects of writing at different times. At the planning stage they focus developing ideas and organizing them. At the drafting stage they focus on finding the language to express themselves.
