Mock exam review- module1

First of all, I did well in the exam and It gave me a first impression about my general knowledge. Also the main thing that I entered to the exam without any preparation because I would know my level exactly and what is my strength and weaknesses. The test taught me many things such as, how the questions set in logical order.
I did very well at the first part of language skill but I have to concentrate more on some strategies in each skill.
The second part was about language learning, this need much efforts and focuses.  Teaching Approaches was very good and I did it successfully.
Only I faced one problem which I will concentrate on it next time is Reading the question carefully for example, the question ( one of the description is Not appropriate). I lost many marks because I generalised that  I have to choose an appropriate choice as previous.
Moreover, the assessment types and tasks was more or less good, the main thing faced me in this part how can I distinguish between these tests, and now I get the significant differences.

Al in all, The whole exam was good and it made me confident and aware of the official one, this is an important goal to me, I have to spot my eyes on my mistakes and illustrate, solving them.

Lexis.
Is it better to learn vocabulary online or using pen and notebook or flashcards?
Written by Joni.
                     ******************************************************

Possibly the most useful way or tool for every learner is using pen and write  the words down, some students use the flashcards as an interesting tool to get the meaning. Also, using online vocabulary could help the adult learners because  they need to get the vocabulary quickly, and they would have a chance to listen to the pronunciation of the words.

*Flash cards and pen as a way of learning words.

It is a wonderful way of learning words especially for beginners to illustrate the information in their minds. This way will help the learners of the second language to be familiar with the spelling so, they will practise to write the syllables of each words and pronounce them correctly. For example, nowadays, the majority of the second language learners use the short form of some words in social program therefore, they encounter a lot of spelling mistakes while they write an official paper. Moreover, some  linguistics theories indicate that if the learner wants to study words, he has to write them down and use them in context.

* Online vocabulary.

It is a significant way for adult learners in particular to use this way of learning vocabulary. For instance, students use technology in every field so, they prefer to find out a fat and alternative various resources. It can help them with pronunciation and to facilitate the search process. In fact no one can deny that online vocabulary resources such as dictionaries enrich the learning and teaching progression.

Listening ( course book review)

New Cutting Edge P-6  T1.1 module 1 track 1.
Leisure and Life Style
Written by: Joni
              *******************************************************************

In our real life we listen normally for many purposes so, in real life it is un usual to listen without having some idea of what they are going to listen for example, in radio or TV. It is one of the harder skill for second language learners because it has a lot of key factors which play a major role in their understanding such as speed with un familiar sound, word and structure. As result of these problems there are three ways to introduce your listening skill in the class.

Pre- teaching key words.

in this book the writer start with key words that will give a general ideas to the students about what they are going to listen. The topic was about Sport therefore, he introduce some vocabularies such as, football, skiing and gym. This is a very important step which can keep the students a wake and Waiting eagerly for the listening text. Also this way will activate their knowledge about sport in their life. furthermore, the book put a discussion exercise which will also give the students an opportunity to speak and use the given vocabularies and their own words about sport. Predicting here will be located as a result of their discussions. in this book the students are going to listen to an authentic listening text which from Scottish news paper.

while-listening Task.

This step is valuble for adult  and beginner learner s, clearly when teacher ask students to take notes by filling gabs or matching exercise. For instance, in this book the writer ask students to complete a survey.

Post- Listening Task.

This kind of activity is the last step which let students to share their knowledge depend on what they listened, and use the new words and facts to write a short survey typical to the previous one. After that discuss with partners about the importance of spots.

In conclusion,  provide an authentic text will make the students use what they listen in their life and will motivate them to listen enthusiastically. Also they will adapt the real expressions and words to use them widely in their real life speech.

Exposure and focus on form.

The today lesson was about the differentiate between exposure and form. Also some intonation and phonemes.
Exposure means simply when you explore something by yourself for example when the Arab students travel to United Kingdom to study English they faced and expose the real language and intonation.  look page ((58)).
Form which particularly deal with the form of words and sentences for instance, focusing on the grammatical structure of the word and how the vocabulary are formed and used. This sort of learning is suitable for adult learners and it help them to learn how they pronounce and write words.

*The main three ways in which we learn foreign language.
1-Acquisition: acquire language or picking up the language naturally by hearing it or read. it's the same as exposure.
  * Interaction: interact with other people, we need language to communicate with each other and understand others.
* Form : it deals with the word features such as, affixes and suffixes. it simply deals with learning style and need to focus n the form.

Motivation in the ESL/EFL Classroom

Motivational theory is considered one of the most vital factor in the classroom. Many theory and opinions from second language researches show that integrative motivation play a major role to encourage the learners to learn language effectively. Education psychologists believe that the task itself, class environment, management of the class and performance goals are the motive to learn;however, the terminology they strongly believe on the intrinsic, extrinsic and achievement motivation.

1- Intrinsic motivation.
intrinsically motivated students and their interests towards something and in the absence of any external motivational factors (Deci & Ryan, 1985:34; Pintrich, 2000 ). Learning and be socialised while you learning  iis an important factor to speak and share with others. The the values and believes become internalised and intrinsic motivation. For example, if some one want to speak English to be a researcher or study chemical to be scientists, this comes from the learner himself.

2- Achievement motivation.
This kind of motivation is different that intrinsic and extrinsic motivations it include expectancy and individual's desire of success. This kind of motivation comes from repeated hard work to achieve high distance goal. Therefore, it is associated with a range of actions.

3- Extrinsic motivation.
This sort of motivation also play a main role to motivate every learner.this kind comes from every external factor for example, when the teacher gives student a gift or confident to do any activity, this will affect on their performance positively.

In conclusion, motivations are considered one of the main wheel that let the learning process more effective
All these types of motivation are essential to every human being to success. .

PRESENTATION TECHNIQUES AND INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

This paper aims to illustrate how you are going to warm up you lesson as a previous step. There are three activities that will wake your students  and let them focusing on the lesson.According to Nadia, she find her experience is valuable and worthy.

every teacher find the first ten minutes of any lessons are the most difficult. Simply because it needs a good plan to warm the student up and encourage them to start their lesson actively. This kind of activity( worming up) is effective to wake the students who are sleeping. This approach comes from real experience of teachers who teach teenagers  in secondary  school.

1- True /false.

First you have to be sure that all students know the meaning of true and false. This activity come as the previous step when the teacher pretend to teach a new lesson. For example, ask students to write three questions about themselves and discuss them with their friend as a pair work, then introduce them selves to each other and decide which statements are correct and which is wrong.
This kind of activities will let all students to participate well and be a wake.

2- Guise the famous person.

This activity will also make students active and will develop their speaking skill while they discuss. Pictures might be useful in this activity which let one student sticks on his back one picture for famous persons and move around the class. After that let every students to speak and discuss with others about what they have seen.

3- Where in the world.
In fact the warmers exercise work better with international group to tell each other about their culture and customs . For instance, teacher will write on the board some words such as, food, cloths, drink, after that give the students an opportunity to discuss and exchange their idea about each other's country. Also they can talk about the stereotypes in their country. The main aims behind this warmer activity to use the students ability more than teacher.

All in all, the warmers should get the students to participate politely with each other and reflect their attitudes positively. If this warmers are successful it will make the lesson interests and active.
