Lexical approach, review

LEXICAL APPROACH.

We studied to with teacher Sam some important information about lexical approach. And in this blog I will write some of the new stuff That I learned today.

Vocabulary is the most important aspect of language. It consists of individual words and different types of chunks such as collocation, idioms and fixed expressions.

Language is learnt by learning chunks as whole and complete units. Chunks need to be noticed by learners in order to be learnt.

I list some practices that can be applied in the classroom.
1- Learners work with authentic written or spoken texts in the classroom.
2- Learners are given activities which encourage them to notice chunks in texts such as underlining g them.
3- After noticing chunks, learners are asked to carry out tasks which will involve them in using the chunks.

A good website for pronouciation, review.

http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/apps/sounds-right

Today we always refer to the internet to get any kind of information we are looking for. It is becoming more and more authentic and reliable. So, learning pronunciation online is a very helpful way to improve one's phonology. As language Learner, one must make use of the sources availble easpecially if they were accessable and reliable. There are several good websites to enhance one's pronouciation and this one above is not an exception.

There are many good features in this website. It is the British Council's first pronunciation chart for learners and teachers worldwide. Pure vowels are arranged the same way as in the IPA chart: according to mouth shape (left to right, lips wide / round - top to bottom, jaw closed / open). Diphthongs are grouped in rows according to their second sound. There are also many other helpful features such as the chart to which you can listen just by a click on any phoneme exercises and tests.

I strongly recommend new learners of English to visit this website and get the best of it.

English vocabulary in use.. Review.

English Vocabulary in Use

In order to improve our skills in the language learning process we need to have some good references. English Grammar in Use is a very good book one should have as long as vocabulary improvement is concerned. this book is self-study reference. So, you probably will not need the help of anyone to study the book. Words are listed and discussed and many exercises are give to practice these words and to consolidate the information you acquired. you can check for the right answers at the end of the book and correct your mistakes if you have made some.

I studied this book at the university and it was a very fruitful experience. I highly recommend this book for any learner of English.

A review of English Grammar in Use

every single learner of any language in the world must have good references that help him and promote his or her linguistic skills. As long as grammar is concerned, there are several excellent books and the Cambridge English grammar in Use is one of them. It is the world's best-selling grammar book. It is a self-study reference and practice book for beginner, intermediate and advanced learners of English Language. a learner is able to teach and train him or her self as it is a very clear and well-illustrated grammar book. Learner do not need teacher (to some extent) when dealing with this book. Grammar rules are explained briefly and directly in a way that is understood by everyone. After that, excesses are given and the answer is found at the end of the book. I studied this book when I was at the university and it was a very helpful and fruitful experience.

I strongly recommend any learner of English to have this book and get the best of it.
